'''We had a thrilling experience of gliding 1,000m high in the sky in this uncluttered hillstation.'''

Saputara at a Glance! : We wanted to do something different and adventurous for the year end and thus landed at Saputara to spend the 31st night. A city and small hill station in the Dang district of Gujarat and about 80 kms from Nashik, it is for the first time organised a paragliding festival.
And, needless to mention, we had a thrilling experience of gliding 900-1,000m high in the sky!

How to Reach : Nearest Railhead: Waghai, which is about 52 km from Saputara. Cabs are easily available from here and it takes about an hour to reach Saputara. If you are coming from Mumbai or from Gujarat via Surat or Ahmedabad, you could get off at Billimora raiway station. There are direct buses to Saputara from here.

Nearest airport: Vadodara, which is about 309 km from Saputara.

A place for every season : If you are adventurous enough, you could trek your way up to Gandhi Shikhar by the river side. An ideal experience for WINTERS and hear the birds chirping early in the morning.

During MONSOONS, you get to breathe the smell of moist earth amidst the flora and fauna.

In SUMMERS, you can spend time just doing nothing. Just walk carefree in Governor Hill (Sunset point – Hill No. 1) and watch the sun set into the Saputara lake.

Other Sight Seeing Stuff : A visit to the Sarpganga Lake, at the centre of the Saputara valley, is of course the main reason why tourists come here for. You must, must enjoy a boat ride here.

You must see the sun set at Governor Hill (Sunset point – Hill No. 1). Curious about the name Governor’s hill? Well, at some point in time, there was a plan to have the Governor’s holiday home here. But that did not happen. Pl note, the view from here is just outstanding. Make sure you also enjoy horse and camel rides here. Ideal for kids as there are lots of facilities for them. Plus there are lots of tea stalls with some snacks available here.

You could visit Sunset Point (Hill No. 2), just opposite the Governor hill. You get breath-taking views here as well.

Don’t miss out on The Ropeway.

You could visit the Anthropological museum here; it throws light on the culture, costumes, heritage and ecology of the tribal Dangs.

There are lots of gardens worth visiting here. Lake garden, Step garden and rose garden are a few of them. You also should visit Ayurvedic Garden which is on the way of Governor hill.

There are 3 important temples here. Nageshwar Mahadev Temple, Jain Temple and Ganesha Temple. Do visit them.
