Ideal time to visit : October – March. The weather here is humid throughout the year. But the winter months are pleasant for beach activities and sightseeing. If you are adventurous enough, you can indulge in water sports such as scuba diving, snorkelling & banana rides, among others.

If you want to stay at a guest house run by Aurobindo Ashram, you could try Park Guest House (Room tariff is Rs 600, Rs 800 and Rs 900 per day without meals). If you are looking for a 3 star, you could try Ginger Hotel, located on the main road in Pondicherry where you get both standard and twin rooms and Sunway GRT Grand, among others. Drink and Dine : Local cuisine here has a French influence. You know why! Well, it is obviously for the French connection in the past. May be you could visit Baker Street, Le Kawa or Hidesign Café, to name a few for local/French cuisine. Pondy is a place for food lovers. There are ample Indian and multi-cuisine restaurants here. That apart, you also get good south Indian delicacies. Pl note: If you stay at a hotel where breakfast is not included, you could visit Maison Perumal.

Going around in Pondy : Pondicherry is a small place so getting around places here is not difficult. You get pedal cycles, motorcycles & gearless scooters. You could rent any of these. In the city, you could also walk to most the destinations as they are not too far off from each other.

Shopping : It’s pretty much a shopping paradise. From textiles, handicrafts, home decors to food items & knick knacks, you get every thing here.
