Disneyland in HongKong

Rating :
''Carry extra bucks to shop and enjoy world's best classically cooked cantonese cuisines''

Take a break from scorching heat and fly to Hongkong with family this vacation. With an average 30 degrees temperature in the month of May and June, this place will indeed serve the idea of much needed break from regular summer places in India. This place serves the purpose of both – couples looking for some cosy time together amidst picturesque beauty and those wanting to spend some fun and quality time with family.

When to go : The best time to visit is during Autumn or in early Spring. However, going now will certainly give you respite from heat.

How to Travel : There are daily direct flights to Hongkong from New Delhi of Jet Airways, Air India and Cathay Pacific.

Disneyland : Compact yet magical, Disneyland in Hongkong is a must go. Experience it to believe it. Cinderella Carrousel, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Sword in the Stone, Mad Hatter Tea Cups, Sleeping Beauty Castle, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Snow White Grotto to make all your storybook dreams come true. It has six Disney worlds with activities for all ages: Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Mainstreet, Toy Story Land, and Grizzly Gulch. Disneyland is on Lantau Island, a 20-minute taxi ride from the international airport. Trains to Disneyland Resort Station run from Sunny Bay Station, connecting with the main line between the airport and Hong Kong and Kowloon. Festival of the Lion King, a pageant of music and dance will keep your eyes glued on the show.

Victoria Peak : Nothing can give a better panorama view of HongKong than the Victoria Peak, locally known as The Peak. Highest mountain peak in the HongKong Island, this famous vantage point offers stupendous view of sparkling skycrapers, Victoria Harbour, Lamma Island and the surrounding Islands. If you staying overnight, do not miss the night view. One can reach the top taking the peak tram, the 120-year-old funicular railway, from the St. John's Cathedral in Hong Kong's Central district. The tram ascends at an implausible vertical angle and is as enjoyable as the peak. The Peak is also accessible by taxi and private car via the circuitous Peak Road, or by walking up the steep old peak road. There are several restaurants on Victoria Peak, most of which are located in the two shopping centres.

Ocean Park : Ocean Park is one of the main attractions in Hong Kong with marine-life theme park featuring animal exhibits, thrill rides and shows. It will fill your day with wonder and memories to cherish for life. The park is located on the southern side of Hong Kong Island and is connected by the cable car and ocean express funicular train connecting the Waterfront and the Summit. These are further divided into eight different attraction zones: Amazing Asian Animals, Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Marine World, Polar Adventure, Adventure Land, Thrill Mountain and the Rainforest. The trip starts from the Main Entrance, through the Ocean Square. The 3-storey Grand Aquarium in this area features various aquatic animals. One can also enjoy exciting rides such as roller coaster, Flash, Whirly Bird, Bumper Blaster and Rev Rooster in the thrill mountain. Flying Swing is another ride where tourists are swung in chairs as high as seven meters (about 23 feet) through a gyrating wave. Ocean Theater is the most famous and popular spot in the whole park in which dolphins and sea lions stage a wonderful performance in a huge pond.
It aims to provide elements of entertainment, education and conservation for tourists. Citybus' Ocean Park Express is the most convenient and comfortable way to get to Ocean Park directly.
Ocean Park hosts five major events throughout the year: a varying Animal in High Definition Month, the Ocean Park Summer Splash, the Halloween Bash and Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations

Park Hours: 10:00 - 18:30

Theatre shows:
Emperors of the Sky at Amazing Bird Theater: 11:00, 13:30, 15:30, 17:00
Symbio! at Aqua City Lagoon: 18:30
Ocean Wonders at Ocean Theater: 12:00, 15:30, 17:00
Sky Fair Celebrations: 11:30, 13:15, 14:45, 18:00
Sea Lion Fun Time Show: 14:00, 16:15
Ocean Heroes at Whiskers Theatres: 15:00, 17:30
(Time is subject to weather permitting without prior notice)

The Ladies’ Market : With over 100 stalls of bargain clothing, accessories, such as like handbags, shoes and watches, and souvenirs, the Ladies’ Market on Tung Choi Street provides a one-kilometre stretch on which to practise your haggling skills. One of the legendry street markets of Hongkong, the market is open in the afternoon but really comes alive in the evening, and doesn’t close until after 11:00pm

Temple street night market : Is a must visit. A popular street bazaar, named after a Tin Hau, is full of life when the sun goes down. Here one can have hands on trinkets, tea ware, electronics, watches, menswear, jade and antiques and at the same time enjoy local cuisine claypot rice, seafood, noodles and other treats with gusto in lively Chinese market atmosphere. However, be careful with the purchases as many of the goods on offers are fakes or copies often priced so cheaply. And yes, bargaining skills can be tested here. The market is open from 2p.m. – 11p.m but if looking for some serious shopping afternoon would be the best time.
