Abbott Mount in Uttarakhand

''Nothing like spending a night here and waking up to melodious chirping of Himalayan birds''

LOCATION : Approx 430kms from Delhi and is located in Champawat district of Uttarakhand.

WHY GO THE DISTANCE : Apt for those looking for absolute peace and a break from every day’s hectic work routine. An ideal place for young couples and honeymooners too, to walk hand in hand through spectacular trails and walkways.
Abbot Mount is a quiet and hidden hill station, largely visited by lone travellers. Except for the monsoons, when one may find routes blocked due to landslides, the place offers pleasant and salubrious weather throughout the year.
One can just relax at cottages here and view beauty of enchanting Himalayan peaks or indulge in activities such as trekking up the nearby hiils, photography and bird watching. The place was founded by and named after John Harold Abbott, an English businessman and hasn’t changed much since inception.
Abbott Mount also serves as a base camp for anglers who wish to fish Mahseer at Pancheshwar, a confluence of Saryuand Mahakali rivers.

Road connectivity is good to Abbott Mount. One can drive down from Delhi via Moradabad, Rampur, Rudrapur, Khatima, Tanakpur, and Lohaghat to reach this place. One can also hop on to a bus or hire a private taxi.

Kathgodam is the nearest railway station situated about 160 kms from Abbott Mount.

BEST TIME TO VISIT : This hill station can be visited all year round. Try avoiding heavy monsoon months (July-August) to avoid getting stuck midways due to heavy landslides in the hills.
