''Celebrated to remember serpent god Gogaji and reflects local rich culture and craftsmanship''

LOCATION : This fair is held at birthplace of Gogaji Smadhi Sthala called Gogamedi. It is in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan and is approx. 250kms from Delhi.

WHEN : Starting August 19, 2014 and will last for 3 days.

WHY GO THE DISTANCE : Famous for village crop, livestock and handicrafts, this fair attracts a large number of tourists from across the world. These items are a must buy. Local flavour is added to the fair by some live music and dancing through which life history of Gogaji is recited using traditional instruments.
The town Gogamedi is name after Rajput Chauhan warrior Gogaji. According to legend when Gogaji fought Mahmud of Ghazni, his throat was cut and as a result, his head fell in Dadrewa and body in Gogamedi. To pay homage to his sacrifice, Firuz Shah Tughlaq built a tomb in Gogamedi in his memory.
This fair is held to pay tribute to this regional warrior and has cultural and religious significance too. It is believed that any snake bite can be cured by enchanting name of snake god Gogaji and applying sacred ash instantly. As a ritual, devotees also offer different kinds of food of sugar, honey and coconut to please him.
This is also considered the best time when young boys and girl can find their best suitable matches.

GETTING THERE : If going by road this route is feasible: Delhi – Rohtak – Hisar – Nohar – Hanumangarh Town.

STAY OPTIONS : The place doesn't have many accommodation options. The prominent and popular one is River Tern Lodge, about 15 kms from the town.
