Kasol: Mini Israel In India

''Also known as Mini Israel, Kasol is one happening place you can’t afford to miss.''

Nestled in the picturesque Parvati valley is this charming village Kasol, which lies on the way between Kullu and Manikaran. Kasol is divided into old Kasol and new Kasol, separated by a bridge midway. Don’t worry! The place is not as big as it sounds. It’s a small, cosy village full of life, which is why youngsters happen to visit this place every year in large numbers. Kasol is surrounded by dense deodar tree cover and snow-capped mountains that adds to the beauty of this village. Because the town sleeps late, all you can hear in the mornings is the gushing sound of Parvati river.

Kasol is a village located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, northern India. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River. It is located 42 km east of Kullu.

It’s a perfect place to be at when you don’t want to indulge in anything, and the whole idea of a vacation is to just sit back and relax. It’s certainly not a place to freak out with family, and so you won’t find noisy families and kids around. Himachal is blessed with numerous hot water spring of which one is at Kasol. Israelis flock to this mystical hot spring by the river in groups quite often.

The place is also an abode of Israelis, some of who are believed to have settled here years ago. No doubt, one gets to see Hebrew language banners throughout the valley. Though it’s a village, village life is not visible anywhere! From latest clothing fashion and cosmetics to junk jewellery and smoking accessories, you get almost everything here.

The scenic beauty of this place draws backpackers in large numbers every year. Kasol is also a base for Himalayan trekking, to SarPass, Yanker Pass, Pin Parbati Pass and Khiriganga. Most of the trekking is organized by the Youth Hostel of India.

It will be unfair to leave the place without gorging on its sumptuous eats. The place is full of restaurants selling Israeli and Italian cuisines. And like every place in India, you can always get hands on Chinese and Tibetan cuisines in Kasol. Try cheese cake at the Germany bakery located at Old Kasol next to the bridge. It’s amazing! Its other bakery products too are worth tasting. Just next to the bakery is a kiosk selling French Crepes. It’s too expensive for its quantity and taste, say about 150-200 INR each. For once, it’s okay. The moment you cross the bridge, you’ll spot this Tibetan food centre towards New Kasol that serve amazing mutton and chicken momos. You can try mutton thupka as well here.

Many big hotel properties have come up at Kasol to accommodate traffic from cities. A few have been captured in pictures. Do refer to them.
